Title:Paleoecology of Albian- Cenomanian sediments based on Calcareous nanoplanktons

Abstract

Calcareous nannoplanktons are one of the most important tools for paleoecological studies, biostratigraphy and determination of specific horizons with hydrocarbon reserves and therefore are important in the petroleum industry. In this study, the paleoecology of Albin-Cenomanian sediments based on calcareous nanofossils was investigated. The lithology of these sediments includes the alternation of shale and marl, marl and clay limestone. Regarding the first occurrence of index species of Prediscosphaera columnata, Eiffellithus turriseiffellii and Microrhabdulus decorates, two nannofossil standard standard CC9 to CC10 are suggested. Based on these biozones, the age of the studied boundary is the late Albian to the late Cenomanian. Paleoecological interpretation show that these sediments were deposited in shallow marine environments, low latitude and longitude, and the existence of warm water indicators species such as Nannoconus, Watznaueria, and Lithraphidites indicates the warm weather conditions in the studied sediments
